Works well, but some concerns

I purchased this primarily because of the ability to work on dovetail front sights. Recently moved over to SW M&P for competition so I wanted lower 1/3 co-witness irons with my red dots. Ultimately, yes I was able to change the sights and install my Night Fision Fiber set but a few things about this sight pusher bothered me and I almost wish I would've just spent more and gotten something more commercial and heavy duty. The stick on pads came off pretty much after the first use. Don't bother with the plastic jaws, just switch to the steel ones and make sure you have some blue painters tape on hand so you don't mar your slide finish. When I had my slide clamped down and I started pushing the front sight, I noticed the slide shifting as I was applying pressure. IF I had not noticed this and just kept applying more pressure I would've scratched my slide. I then measured the dovetail thickness compared to the factory and polished it a little bit then re-adjusted the pusher until it was slightly higher up on the dovetail of the front sight so IF it did flex again under tension it wouldn't scratch the slide. This was very tedious and and there was a lot of constantly adjusting the slide. Switching to the steel vise jaws that come with will reduce flex in the system, but not remove it all together. The last concern is the knobs used for clamping the slide down are just hard to tighten.. I don't understand why they didn't just have some kind of headed bolt so the knobs could be tightened with a wrench, hex key, start key, something... I felt like I could never get enough pressure to get the slide to clamp down and not flex while the pusher was applying pressure to sight. Overall, YES, this was better than using a brass punch and a mallet. However if you are not SUPER careful with this sight pusher especially with dovetail front sights it's very easy to ruin your slide.

Amazing

I had used no name chinese models of sight pusher until now, but every time I used them, I could clearly see they were gradually damaged because of the poor overall quality. There's no comparison with the quality of this RealAvid model, which is extremely good: all the adjustments are very accurate and smooth, the change of the sights was extremely simple and easy, I am very satisfied of this model.

RealAvid Master Sight Pusher

I found the sight pusher fairly straight forward and easy to use. Once getting the sight pusher lined up the RealAvid Master Sight Pusher did the job and pushed the old rear sight out of the way. It would have been 5 stars if there had been more details on the process. I then tried it on my Ruger LCP Max, removing the front and installing a new one. Much easier than with a punch and hammer. All in all this was a very useful tool. If there are upgrades considered the one item I would add is a port to view the sight/tool alignment better.

Installation made simple.

First time I ever had to install sights in a new slide. Was installing Night Fision suppressor heights in a bare slide using the Real Avid press. Instructions were very well written and easy to follow. Had both sights installed in no time. It’s well worth the money.
