We Recommend

When it comes to tritium gun sights, aluminum sleeves and painted-on white rings are the norm. Night Fision breaks the mold, literally. Our patented, injection molded sleeve design not only holds our tritium vials securely in place, it creates a brighter and more durable ring, we call The Perfect Dot™, that provides maximum visibility both day and night.

I purchased a set of Night Fision Perfect Dot Tritium night sights a few weeks back. I waited to review until after the gunsmith put them on and I could use them over a period of time. Full disclosure: Although I purchased the full set with the yellow/green ring on the front sight, I only have the Night Fision rear sites on my XD Mod.2 subcompact. Why, you might ask? The front sight broke as the gunsmith was installing it. Apparently there is a very small connection between the sight and the base (the piece that slides into the slot on the front of the slide).

I was pretty stunned and, to be fair, the gunsmith was very angry with himself. He immediately went online and purchased another brand of front sight very similar to the Night Fision, and more expensive, to boot. Fortunately, he did this on his dime. All in all, the rear sight went on easily. The front sight? Not so much. I’m not going to cast blame either way. I’ll just echo the feedback I received from the gunsmith: The XD stock sights are machine installed and a VERY tight fit. It may be that the Night Fision front sight needs to be milled just a touch before installation. That’s something you can discuss with your gunsmith.

After the initial debacle, I am pleased as punch with my new sights. I know the front is another brand, but it is nearly identical to the Night Fision front sight so I’d have to estimate that the performance would have been quite similar.

I’m not as young as I used to be and these sights are much better than the stock XD Mod.2 subcompact sights (rear white dots/front fiber optic). I can pick up the sights MUCH easier now, whether in broad daylight, the dim light of the indoor range, or even on my nightstand in the middle of the night. It’s comforting to look down and see those two little Night Fision green eyes looking back at me from the holster.

Dry fire and live fire has been much more productive with these night sights installed. I feel more confident carrying the XD, knowing that no matter what the lighting conditions, I’ll be able to quickly acquire the sites and put them on target.

I know the breakage was (maybe) my gunsmith’s fault, at least for the most part, but just the possibility that the support structure on the front sight is not quite as robust as it perhaps could be, takes off a star. Regardless of all that, I would still rate these sights very highly and recommend them to any other XD owners.

Just be sure to have a good chat with your gunsmith about sizing ahead of time.

Awesome tritium; even brighter than my Trijicons. Excellent sight picture, although the corners are very sharp.
Important note to consider: these sights require additional machining & custom fitting to install. They are slightly over-sized, and will break if using a sight pusher tool prior to sanding down the surfaces to match your pistol’s dove-tails.
Other than that, they are solid sights.

Excellent tritium; brighter than my other night sights. Good sight picture, almost too good – the corners are quite sharp.
The only down side is that these sights require custom fitting to install. They are over-sized, and break-off if using a sight pusher tool prior to machining. Be sure to sand down the surfaces to match your pistol’s dove-tails before attempting to force them in.
Other than that, they are solid sights.

Bought a blue front sight for my Shield 45. Really bright in the dark and visible in daylight.

I absolutely LOVE these sights! I have purchased 4 sets now and they are hands down my favorite sights. I just installed a set last night using my new MGW sight pusher. I was worried because of all the horror stories I have read about changing sights on Springfield XD’s. Everything was perfect! I was careful, but the fit was great. These look sweet as french silk pie. Love how they are as nice to see in daylight as in the night.

Does this fit the hellcat osp version or both hellcat models

  7. NF Admin

Regular Hellcat only. These will not work with the OSP.

Will the front sight fit the Hell Cat, they only had the fiber optic in stock and I want to replace that part only ?

  9. NF Admin

Yes the front sight will fit the Hellcat.

So I just need to be reassured before I place an order. If I understand correctly the TRITIUM FRONT SIGHT will work on a HELLCAT OSP? This would be the front sight only. Thank You.

  11. NF Admin

Yes the front sight will work with the Hellcat OSP.

I see that you say that the front sight will and won’t work with the Hellcat OSP.

    Which is it?

  13. NF Admin

The front sight only, will work the Hellcat OSP.

I have the Shield RMSC on my Hellcat but I’m interested in your Perfect Dot Front Sight. Is it the same height as the OEM?

Hopefully reviews can be updated. 4 stars for now, will update if I purchase.

After doing some reading I came across these sights. They look great and there’s more than just 2 color choices. Now my only concern is that multiple people say that the sights have to be machined in order to fit? Why make them for the XD if they do not fit the XD? I have an XD9 and will be purchasing a set of sights this week. Whether it is a set of night fision or not is up to you guys. Extra input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Actually just have a question. I am going with front sight only for OSP Hellcat. There are two model choices. Which would be the correct one? Either?

  17. NF Admin

Yes that’s correct, you can select either model and then select “front only” for sight style. These are the same part. Enjoy!

  18. NF Admin

Yes our Perfect Dot front sights are OEM replacements.

Will these sights fit on the XDS 9 mod2 with the 3.3 inch barrel, the slide is also cut for the OSD. But i dont plan on using a red dot sight.

  20. NF Admin

    The front sights only will.

Going to be purchasing the xd service model, in 9mm. Do you recommend your tool set, or a sight pusher for seamless install? Obviously you have a bit of a biased opinion, but hoping for an honest reply. THANKS!

Query, what amount of sanding/machining would be required for proper fitment? I intend to put them on an XD .45 sub compact model. Would it require an armorer, or can the average tool handler do it?

  23. NF Admin

We recommend using the gunsmith kit because it allows a more custom fit to your specific slide dovetail. Sight pushers tend to place too much force on the blades of the sights.

  24. NF Admin

We recommend test fitting the dovetails so they can slide in with finger pressure to about 50% of the way before hammering them home. We offer a gunsmith kit that comes with a filing stone, punch, and hammer.

Which sights for hellcat the ones for xd or xds and xde

  26. NF Admin

Hello! We currently do not offer rear sights for the Hellcat. However, if you wish to simply replace your front sight, select FRONT SIGHT ONLY and select either XD or XDS.

My Hellcat OSP tritium front sight was dead from factory. Didn’t want to deal with sending it off. Bought these as I’ve used them in my CZ P10 and they were bright, sturdy and fit well. The hellcat front sight was very bright and of course sturdy being steel, but fitment wasn’t the best. Probably the most I’ve ever had to file on a sight before. Wish I had taken to gunsmith to make it easier but I got them on, they work well. Even after filing it was an extremely snug fit. I would still buy again. Both my CZ and Hellcat sights are noticeably brighter than the Trijicon HDs and Amariglo Spartans on my glocks. For anyone wondering, the front sight fits all hellcat models, the rear sight does not fit the OSP or RDP.
